and of course Israel hates that because they dont want a nuclear escalation in the middle east.
Netanyahu promising to kill the deal was a remarkable admission of the power of the Israel lobby in US politics. The idea that a foreign power could overrule the US executive... remarkable.

Of course the nuclear deal with Ian plays into this as well. If the Iranians start getting exports flowing again while domestic demand drops because of the switch to nuclear power, then that'll whack the saudis. i think its the start of Irans rapprochement with the west.

No the important point about it would be that we would no longer have to treat them so nicely, because they dont hold the balance of power in energy (they already are losing it hence the oil price fall). When we dont have to keep playing nice with them, we can start to deal with them as adults.

Be interesting to see what happens to them once the oil boom is over. Not sure it's a good thing though.

Lets hope to fuck they are. Saudi is primarily responsible for the wave of Islamism the world has had to deal with these past years. A country that has no bargaining chips anymore is a country that we can start whacking about like they deserve.

If JR Ewing came down to Dorset and started digging around my back garden with a spade, I'd shout 'Oi, Ewing. NO!! Pick up your ten gallon hat and fcuk off back to Texas in a timely manner!!
Leave MY county of Dorsetshire alone, I tell thee. There's no oil here, it's all in Devon.

Thing is they are still fucked because shale production is getting massively more efficient.
All you've seen in the US is the less-efficient rigs being washed out the system while production of nat gas and oil continues to rise.

I'm not sure why people are so against fracking. Sure there are some risks, but they can be mitigated. The alternative is continuing to funnel cash to the Middle East and Russia until renewables dominate perhaps starting 20 years out.

this might provide your answer
http://www.eia.gov/analysis/studies/worldshalegas/
Basically there's shit loads of it around the world, though if correct this is a big one.
In fact the reason why oil prices have fallen so much is that the Saudis have decided they want to kill the shale business before it starts, otherwise they and the other oil producers will be fucked. So theyve driven down the price of oil to a level they believe that makes it non-profitable to open up new shale sites.

It's not going to be franked. It's a conventional well that's been drilled, according to the CEO of the company that found the oil. Their shares went up 300% today by the way....

The soil types that the oil is found in is obviously vital to this. Hopefully Oklahoma USA and Crawley have very similar geological environments that make the oil unique to them. Leaving for example Germany and France without.
